Name: Schoenherr Jens//Jens Schoenherr (Japanese//English) Gender: Male Age: 16 Birthday: 10/19 Year and Class: 2A Zodiac Sign: Libra
Personality and Appearance
Personality:
The first and most influential area of Jens' personality is his lack of self-esteem. It dictates and (most of the time) inhibits nearly ever decision that he makes in life. Most all things are done only after the possible consequences have been calculated. There's almost always, at least, a few results that would cause him to look stupid, so he may just stop right there.
This has, as would be expected, led to a crippling shyness. It's very rare for him to speak unless spoken to, but that doesn't mean that it's hard to tell what he's thinking. Most of his emotions are expressed through his eyes and body language. He doesn't like to show negative emotions, as they can be a burden to those around him. Any positive emotions, though still not openly expressed, can usually be noted by a soft smile or a twinkle in the eye.
One other way of expression is through his music, his greatest passion in life. When playing in his free time, any song he plays will shine through with feeling, whether it be happiness, sadness, anger, or anything else. During an actual performance however, he takes on the spirit expressed in the music, regardless of how he's feeling. Finally, nothing can get his spirits up more than playing some good jazz.
Jens is astoundingly difficult to anger, and will only burst out in the most extreme of cases. He needs to passionately believe in a cause to have any fire for it; otherwise, he is mostly calm and level-headed. Despite his inhibitions, Jens is a generally happy young man, but not in a positive way. He's happy because he's grown to accept the fact that he's, in his opinion, a rather worthless human being. It's really not okay for anyone to think of themselves that way, but it was the only way that Jens could keep himself from permanently wallowing in his own self-doubt.
Jens has a kindness to match his patience--amazing. Given the situation, his heart shines through to all those around him. It shows especially through a special connection with nature that he seems to have. Jens has a definite, natural calming effect around animals and feels a responsibility to protecting the world around him. This, amongst other things, was one of the reasons that he initially left home.

Jens has golden-blonde hair that reaches just above his shoulders. It's usually kept neat, but some of the hats that he wears tend to make it stick out in odd directions. It's not styled very specifically but, rather, just allowed to hang down. The only maintenance really required is to wash and brush it every day. Jens sees anything else as superfluous.
Working downward, Jens has rather strange eyes. They're a unique shade of brown with a strong tint of amber--as a result, they are orange in appearance. His eyebrows are the same color as his hair; they're a bit high, but straight, with no distinct arch. His nose is nothing special; it's long enough so that it's proportionate to his face but not so much that it's too close to his mouth. It's just average. His lips are thin, normally drawn into a soft smile. All in all, his face is rather...average, perhaps a bit better.
At 5'7", Jens isn't as tall as he'd like to be. He doesn't mind entirely, but it wouldn't hurt to be a bit taller. His skin is shockingly fair and very sensitive. In fact, he has his own special sunscreen, so powerful that it doesn't have a specified SPF. He also doesn't react well to the colder months, the skin on his hands often turning a bit translucent if too cold.
In contrast with his face, his body is nowhere near average. Through convenient genetics and a strict workout regimen, Jens has gained the body of a modern-day Adonis. Each muscle is more perfectly sculpted than the next, his pale skin pulling over the limbs. He wasn't really ever trying to have a great body. He was just trying to get stronger; the former kind of just occurred on its own. Thus, he never really flaunts it. The only things tarnishing his body are the scars across his torso from numerous surgeries, though the skill with which they were carried out minimized the damage.
In fact, also unintentionally, Jens basically hides his perfect physique. He doesn't really have a specific clothing style. He merely wears clothes that will protect his skin against the sun. This normally involves pants and long sleeves, usually baggy. The bagginess of his clothing opens them up and allows air to get through, thus keeping him from becoming too hot, even in clothing made for spring and autumn worn in summer.
History
History:
Jens Schoenerr was born in Berlin, Germany. His father, Flori Schoenerr, was the heir to a oil company fortune, as well as a notorious playboy and flirt. He spent most of his free time seducing young girls. Unfortunately for the average Joes of the world, he was really...REALLY good at it. He had short, blonde hair, always kept neat and tidy. His eyes were a sharp, icy blue, and his body was meticulously built into a muscular physique.
And that is the beginning of the beautiful story behind Jens' birth. Flori was only 17 when he met Astrid, a lovely young woman working at a local bar. She had fair skin, chocolate brown eyes, and long, silky, black hair. It was her night off and she, oddly enough, decided to spend it as a patron of that particular bar. That was when Flori caught her eye. They immediately hit it off (though it didn't really mean anything--they were completely drunk) and ended up...having...relations...
It was a few weeks later that Flori ended up receiving a visit from Astrid at his high-end apartment in Berlin. In all honesty, he didn't even remember her at first. He, on the other hand, was rather easy to find, since he always made sure to mention his high status to other women. It took some serious convincing to ensure that Flori knew what he was dealing with. He took it surprisingly well. He greeted the news of Astrid's with a hearty laugh and a hug around the shoulders--rich people were always so annoyingly carefree.
Astrid didn't share the same attitude; she initially didn't want the baby, but the Schoenherrs convinced her to keep it, so long as they would be the ones to care for it. By the end of the pregnancy however, Astrid was happy the whole thing had happened. Their agreement hadn't changed and Astrid still wouldn't be too involved in the boy's life, but she was glad to be having a son.
But disaster soon struck. At a dangerously early 26 weeks, Astrid went into labor. She had just barely made it into her hospital bed when Jens was born. The tiny baby was immediately taken to the neonatal intensive care unit. The prematurity of this birth wasn't the only issue. Even as a regular baby, Jens had been developing rather slowly in the womb. He was at the level of development of a baby about 21 weeks. He would be 26 months old before he was finally released from the hospital.
During that time, there were definitely times when no one thought that he would make it through. He was easily the sickest child in the hospital and one of the most sickly infants that his medical team had come across. If it wasn't for the fact that the Schoenherrs could afford the best medical procedures known to the time, Jens easily would've died.
Jens was a fairly normal toddler, though behind in his developmental milestones. The Schoenherrs (Astrid was, more or less, out of the picture once he was okay, though they would still remain close) were more concerned with keeping him alive than potty training and learning to talk. But he was a very smart little boy and things came quickly. Eventually, he was able to catch up and even surpass his peers. He entered school at the age of 4, a year earlier than usual.
But another tragedy struck at the age of 7. The family always knew that Jens had a weak little body, and he understood that too. Unfortunately, his gym coach didn't. He had the students running laps and turned a deaf ear to Jens' complaints of chest pains. Soon enough, the boy's lung had collapsed. He was carried to the nurse's office until a helicopter could take him to the nearest hospital.
Things just seemed to pile on from there. Everything was touch and go for a long time. Once one thing was fixed, another was discovered. After the collapsed lung, there was a heart murmur. A pacemaker was put in place. After the heart murmur, his liver failed. He actually had a liver transplant at the age of 9. No one so young should have to go through that. The surgeries and such made him better, but his body was still weak. He would live in the hospital until he was 11 years old.
There wasn't much to do for a young man in a hospital. He spent most of his time listening to music. It came to be a precious thing to him. He immediately wanted to sing for his parents. His voice wasn't particularly good, but he had pitch-perfect hearing. A nearby nurse suggested that he learn to play the piano. Flori jumped on the chance for something to make his son happy.
So, with a keyboard on his lap, Jens spent all of his freetime learning to play. When bored of this, he would often just stare out the window. Just outside of it was a small nest that he watched over the years. It began as a single dove. Later, it was two doves. Later still, it was filled with eggs. When they finally hatched, many doves inhabited the nest. He watched them be fed, learn to fly...all of the wonders of nature immediately filled his heart.
He knew, from that point, that he didn't like his father's business. He was running a very clean oil business, of course, but it was still dangerous for the environment. His music, however, was always there to console him. Besides, he couldn't think negatively of Flori. He loved Jens so much, and Jens was only alive because of Flori's business.
Upon his release from the hospital, Jens began private music lessons with a very sought-after and talented instructor. The man was told only to teach Jens classical music, but he was a free spirit. He secretly allowed Jens to listen to jazz; the boy immediately loved it. The man encouraged Jens to follow his heart but, as soon as Jens played jazz for his family, the man was fired. That wasn't the kind of fiery, free-spirited attitude that they wanted Jens to learn.
Jens didn't want to live in the Schoenherr house anymore. There was just something about that place that put him on edge. At the age of 13, he met a girl by the name of Rin. She went to school with him, but was a native of Japan. She told him of a wonderful, long-term foreign exchange program for gifted students. Jens set out to learn Japanese immediately. Fortunately, he had a lot of free time and was very gifted. He was basically fluent by 14.
It was at this point that Jens told his father of his plans. The entire family was initially wary of the idea, as Jens was a very sick young man, but they allowed it eventually. It was with a heavy heart that they saw him off at the airport. He began to live in a high-end apartment of Japan, alone. He was free of his family's business, allowed to live with his environmentalist ideals. Most importantly though, Jens was allowed to follow his secret passion. Without his family's consent, he began taking private music lessons again, but on the saxophone. Of course, he constantly kept in practice on piano and clarinet, but nothing could compared to the jazz that he played on the saxophone.
His foreign exchange program brought him to the home of all rich students of Japan--Ouran. He had one year of middle school to finish before moving on to the high school area. In his more than two years there, he still hasn't really made any friends, though he has many friendly acquaintances. Still, that doesn't mean much.
